Q&A: Need an MFD printer?
I want to know which is the best multifunction printer (printer, scanner but no fax) for home use. I have a requirement of printing not more than 10 pages per month! But need to have one. I really need to have the printer with most economical operating cost (low ink usage).

Check out PC World’s top 5 multifunction printer list.

Read the entire review and you’ll have a pretty solid idea as to where you might find the best option.

You might also consider buying an older refurbished machine. Most electronics/computer stores carry them. If not, you can usually find them at reputable online stores.

If you’re only using the machine for printing 10 pages a month, then the cost of ink will only become an issue because the print heads or cartridges are going to clog or simply dry out.

If possible, I’d stick with the Canon printers that use the BCI-3, BCI-5 or BCI-6 ink cartridges. They’re very inexpensive, especially if you use compatible ink cartridges.

Even if the machine you’re interested in has the fax built in, you don’t need to use it and it wouldn’t likely be any cheaper without it.

Check prices for ink or toner cartridges from Inkjet Oasis Canada.

Hewlet packard has the best units and they install well but are a bit more however if you just want to make a color copy of something you do not need to ave it connected to a computer, just press the copy button. Where the Lexmark is cheaper but is harder to install properly and if you need a color copy it has to be connected to a computer and it has to be done threw a program.
